BC Creek Protection Society and the BC River Alliance
The new "goldrush" in BC's watersheds is about power generation. Many of the way out in the back creeks and waterfalls that I've trekked to and photographed (East Toba River near Raccoon Pass, The Upper Pitt River and many more) on multi day trips have been slated for hydro electric generation, which could damage these fragile areas. The rights to hundreds of BC's sensitive waterways have been given away for free- Urgent action is required on this one.
The Cape Roger Curtis Trust Society
This group is dedicated to preserving a privately owned 650 acre wilderness area on Bowen Island, in BC. Cape Roger Curtis has several endangered species, and is currently facing the prospect of some major development. An incredibly spiritual place where some of Shel's most famous photos have been taken of arbutus trees.
